If you are looking to fly to London on American Airlines, consider this: US airline has quietly slashed 787-9 Dreamliner service to Europe because of technical problems.

All 28 of the airlines two 787-9 Dreamliners were temporarily grounded in August after at least three pilots complained about improperly installed floor sensors , reports Aviation Week . When planes are inspected, the sensors can cause a sudden loss of cabin pressure .

American Airlines’ routes from Dallas/Fort Worth to Paris and Frankfurt, Germany were temporarily affected. In addition, service from Barcelona to Miami was reduced.

The airline expects to return its 787-9 Dreamliners to service by June 2019, it said on its website . American’s Dreamliners are being replaced with Boeing 787-8 aircraft.

Rome, Paris and Frankfurt are now served by the 787-8, while Rome and Barcelona are on track to be served by the Dreamliner in the near future.

The 787-9 Dreamliner is a longer variant of the 787-8. On airplanes that use Rolls-Royce engines the tips of the wings are substantially longer, allowing airlines to fit more seats into the airplane.

For reference, the US airline’s 787s have a total seating capacity of 189 passengers, but are configured to carry 166 to 218 passengers on short-range domestic flights and 226 to 243 passengers on long-range trans-oceanic flights.
