Blue Mountain Resort is bringing an international film festival to the Canadian ski resort this summer. The Hollywood on Ice festival — which debuted in 2016 — celebrates unusual and unique Canadian cinema.
Organizers say the festival is celebrating “inspiring independent Canadian feature films” produced in both Toronto and the Ottawa area. In addition to screenings of key films and panel discussions, the six-day festival offers a plethora of activities, including bungee trampolines, clay shoots, guided jogs and other outdoor activities.

Popular film festival circuit draws
The festival comes on the heels of the annual Toronto International Film Festival , which is currently in its 35th year. This year’s events started September 5, and kick off the film industry’s official fall movie season.
The festival’s organizers say that Blue Mountain Resort has hosted many movie-related events in the past, including gala screenings and private audiences.
“Blue Mountain Resort has been hosting other film-related events in the past,” according to a statement. “This year, as part of the resort’s pledge to Canada’s arts, Blue Mountain Resort, together with Festival to the Extreme, will bring the Hollywood on Ice festival to Blue Mountain Resort.”
Last year’s festival opened with a concert and stayed on the mountain through a screening of the 2016 drama “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.”
